Be Proactive

Some ways to be proactive about your condition are by first researching fibromyalgia, understanding how it effects the human body and what you can expect to feel. Some suggestions on being self-efficient about your condition is by eating healthy, avoiding foods that could worsen your symptoms, regularly exercising, consuming a daily vitamin, and finally learning your limits. While these suggestions might seem simple, they have the potential to dramatically help increase your health while living with fibromyalgia.

Be Optimistic

Another mental coping skill for dealing with fibromyalgia is optimism. Having an optimistic attitude when it concerns your condition is everything. In recent research, it has been shown that optimism is linked to lower levels of stress and a greater tolerance of pain. Optimism is so important when dealing with a condition like fibromyalgia, because it allows an individual to accept their condition, while also realizing that this doesn’t have to be the end. It is important to remember that while there is no current cure, that does not mean there isn’t hope for the future.

Know that a Cure May be Found

There are various organizations who work night and day to raise money in order to one day find a cure for fibromyalgia. Allow yourself to let go of the idea that your situation is hopeless. Instead, understand that there has been so much progress with this condition in the past few years. This can make it easier for some people to cope with their condition. It can also allow an individual to reach out to family and friends for support, and even join a support group.

These skills will allow you to deal with your condition in a safe and healthy way.
